This show is really nice. It isn't as smart as classic MLP was, but it's almost as kind and friendly.

Yeah this is a huge thing that upset the fan base. The director, Tatsuki, had full creative control over the show due to the fact the Kemono Friends franchise was a failure on arrival. They gave his team of just ten people (Not including voice actors) only $10,000, which is nothing for a full 12 episode TV show. But Tatsuki and the team put 110% into their work despite their lack of 3D animation skills and because of that it became a huge success in Japan.

The reason he was fired though was because after all the episodes were aired he made a teaser image for a season 2 as well as make an episode 12.1, following Fennec and Racoon and uploaded it to his YouTube channel (Which you can still find on there oddly enough https://youtu.be/lh_GcdBamD4 ) Following his firing, his team that worked on the show also quit.

So now the chances for a season 2 are next to nil, or if it does get one then it will be by a completely different team with a lot less creative control then the original team.
